Caleb contacted me in July and asked me to help him plan a surprise vow renewal for his wife Kelsey and him for their 10th anniversary in August. They planned to be up at Farish Recreation Area near Woodland Park for their anniversary, which is an incredibly beautiful location. Caleb decided to suggest to Kelsey that they do a family photo session while staying at Farish so that Kelsey would contact me to plan it, and we'd end with the surprise vow renewal. We also suggested to Kelsey they go "all out" for their outfits, since they haven't done family photos in years and it would work right in with the surprise vow renewal. Caleb was amazing at arranging everything, making sure everyone was up there at the right time, getting a special anniversary ring, writing vows, even having the same officiant they had for their wedding. To top it off, Kelsey's dad flew in to walk her down the aisle!
We had such a fun time doing the family session portion of the session - their kids pose so naturally and easily, and have the best smiles! When I photograph sessions at Farish, I usually end at an area called Wedding Hill, which is used for ceremonies and weddings, and has an incredible view. When we arrived at Wedding Hill, Kelsey was bummed because she thought a ceremony was going on. Little did she know Caleb had rented it for them, and those people were her friends! It was such a surprise! Their vow renewal ceremony was so special, the love they have for each other and their commitment and devotion to each other speaks so much to God's love and hand in their marriage. And their children get to see this wonderful relationship and commitment lived out daily.
